Tribes of the Thal Punjab

This post looked at a region in Punjab, known as the Thal, and in particular some of the tribes that namely the Bhidwal, Kachela, Kallu and Sangra. Just a clarification, the Kallu and Kalru are distinct tribe, both are found in the Thal.

Thal home to a number of tribes that grouped under the name Jat. In the Thal, Each tribe historically enjoyed prerogatives to grazing. Aheer, Bhachar, Dhudhi, Jhammat, Mekan, Talokar, Tiwana, Uttra and Wahla tribes also exist in Thal

Who is Syed?

Syed in Arabic means Honorable. A Syed is one who claims to be a direct descendant of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, peace be on him. Syed refers to a very respected clan in Arab world i.e. to people who are descendent of the prophet. Most Arabs refer to Syeds for Spiritual healing and prayers. However, there are some individuals who claim to be Syed but are not.
